Well it’s been a while since I posted even though I said I would keep you guys up to date. It is taking me a bit of time to catch up since I started like 2 weeks late in the classes. It has been hard trying to do everything for all the classes.

I was supposed to be taking 7 classes but for some reason my guidance counselor added 1 more which was supposed to be for next semester in Jan. I’m taking Chemistry (Honors), Geometry(Honors), English II (Honors), Spanish II, Web Design I, World History, HOPE (Health Opportunies through Physical Education)and

the extra class Critical Thinking Skills. As you can see, that’s a lot but I’m going to do it.

So far I have A’s in all my classes. To make sure we are doing our work and understand it, oral exams are given. I have to call the teachers at certain points in the term, after sending in assignments, essays and quizzes. For Spanish class, I had to get a small mike because some of the assignments check on speaking skills.

Yesterday, my Spanish teacher sent me an email saying I was behind pace. My mom gets the same emails I get so she was on my case because I thought I had been ahead and told her so. When I checked, I was wrong so this morning I had to get up at 8:00 am to do some catching up. (I usually get up at 10:45 am :)  ).

For the Hope class I have to do exercise and stuff and write down how much and how long it took me. So, yes, I even get to work out my bod, EL G Nie style!

Talk to you later!

Well, you guys remember my experience on the last day of school, right?  (If you don’t , then go back  to the June post titled Sof’ Punks.)  I decided not to think about the incident and have a fresh start at school.  Guess what happened?

The first days of school were horrible because I kept seeing the punks every day  (by the way, I define punks as people who walk in groups preying on others or a bully).  The way they operate is by targeting someone and jumping on them, most of the time from behind. You see, they have to be in school because of what’s called cumpulsory attendance laws.  If they don’t go , then their parents can be jailed and/or they have to attend special  programs (well most of them are in special ed already).  They waste their time coming in late to school, roaming the halls, hanging out in bathrooms.  Their best school time is lunch time.  They stand in groups sizing the other guys up to see who they can intimidate.  I felt the need to constantly look over my shoulders which is no way to live.

Anyway, I was feed up with all punks, so I  transfered my “educational experience” (as my mom calls it) to a Virtual School, which is really a school without walls.   I am now going to high school online.

I feel it’s way better for me because (1) I get more sleep time, (2) I could finish my schooling by my own pace [meaning faster than regular high schools], and last but definitely first on this list is that I don’t have to be in an atmosphere which makes me uncomfortable!

This is how it works.  I can take honors and/or AP courses. I can be on the school’s sports teams or any school clubs.  I only have to take state tests or PSAT, SAT, or ACT tests at the high school.   I will be able to attend  graduation, get an official high school diploma, and transcript.  I get to chat, email and be in discussion forums with the other students who are also doing online schooling.  I get access to tutoring, guidance counselor,  and my teachers are all an email or phone call away.  Best of all, I will be able to do dual enrollment or early admissions to college all the while being a public school kid which means admissions fee, textbooks, and tuition will be free.

My school friends told me it was a stupid reason to go, especially since I was in the (International Baccalaureate) IB program.   It’s supposed to be one of the best ways to get ready for college and scholarships.  But there are other ways to get ahead.  Some of my teachers were sad too but I will show everyone that I can and will SUCCEED!  For I am more than a conqueror.

I will be updating you guys on my progress though, through all my ups and downs of it.  So all my IB peeps and all my friends, keep checking this site to know what’s up.
